Dawah at Tampa Riverwalk
The Sunnah Initiative brought Qurans in English, Spanish, and French to Tampa Riverwalk, opening simple public conversations about Islam during a busy World Cup evening.
Meeting people where they were
On July 18, 2026, The Sunnah Initiative set up on Tampa Riverwalk while crowds gathered for a World Cup match. Four to five volunteers wore matching initiative vests and invited passersby into simple conversations about Islam.
The table held free Qurans in English, Spanish, and French, along with short pamphlets explaining the fundamentals of the faith. Visitors could ask what Muslims believe, learn at their own pace, and take something home to read.
Photographing while participating
I joined the dawah while documenting it through photographs and video. The images focus on the conversations, the multilingual materials, the volunteers working together, and the practical setup behind a few hours of public outreach.
Taimur organized the event for The Sunnah Initiative. A vlog from the evening is now in production for a YouTube collaboration with The Sunnah Initiative, Ayoub Abedrabbo, and Islamic Tampa TV.
